Integration of Local Wisdom Values in the Curriculum to Shape the Character of Elementary School Students

This study discusses the urgency of integrating local wisdom values in the elementary school curriculum as a strategy in the formation of the character of students who are not only academically intelligent, but also have a strong cultural identity and noble morals. In the midst of the current of globalization that can erode local cultural values, basic education has an important role in re-instilling the nation's noble values in the younger generation. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this study was carried out by the method of literature study on various scientific sources that discuss the implementation of local wisdom in the context of character education in elementary schools. The results of the analysis show that the integration of values such as mutual cooperation, tolerance, honesty, responsibility, and love for the environment into the learning process is able to strengthen the moral dimension and cultural identity of students. Integration strategies can be carried out through thematic learning, extracurricular activities, and projects to strengthen the Pancasila Student Profile. These three approaches have proven to be effective in instilling local values contextually and applicatively. However, this study also identifies various challenges faced, including limited locally-based learning resources, lack of teacher training, and lack of systematic policy support. Therefore, the success of integrating local wisdom in character education requires synergy between educational institutions, the government, and the community. With the right approach, this integration can be a strong foundation in building the character of the nation's next generation.
